Migrating Master server/backup network.

I need a solution

Hello all, So I have an existing 7.6.1.1 env pointing to a DD via OST (which replicates to a another DD through SLP).

Prod (10.xx.xx.xx)

Existing (20.xx.xx.xx) 

Backup (30.xx.xx.xx)

Customer is wanting a dedicated backup. I am looking to either move the master, media, and DD over to the new dedicated backup network or to build a new master, existing media , and DD on the existing network. (let's assume all routing is configured and in-place as needed)

Current Master , Media, and DD all dual pathed on Prod & Existing networks.

My question is, can i stand up a new master server in the backup network, using the same media server to point to the same DD (using same mtree).

My initial thought is that I will need to move to swap Prod IP and Existing IP on media around, then Existing IP becomes the new Backup interface.


New Device Mapping File for Netbackup 5230 Appliances

Hi all,

I am trying to find the latest Device Mapping File that is suitable for installing on Netbackup 5230 Appliances...

I have found a Linux one (Linked below), but I am unsure if I can use that one for my 5230 Netbackup Appliances, as it is not listed under the supported products of that particular document

Can somebody either point me to the correct Device Mapping File for NBU 5230 Appliances or confirm that it is OK to use the Device Mapping File as linked above...

We currently are running 2.6.1.1 and I need the fresh Device Mapping File to enable Netbackup Accelerator functionality for our HP B6200 Deduplication Appliances, that recently had Accelerator Functionality added by a firmware update...

Current Device Mapping present on our Netbackup 5230 Appliances:

tpext -get_dev_mappings_ver

device mappings version in the EMM database is 1.120
device mappings version from the local file is 1.120
Local device mappings file is up-to-date

The new one is 1.124 (See link above)

Any help will be appreciated :)

Storage Units Conflict

I have recently replaced a HPUX media server with a Windows 2008 R2 media server.  With that I assigned the drives, from a Quantum DXi 8500, to the Windows box.  The DXi acts as a VTL and we have a Quantum i2000 for physical tapes.  I have also decom'd the HPUX media server.  When I do a rescan it comes up complete with no errors.  But when I run a test job:

slow sharepoint backup

Hello

I have an issue with a Sharepoint GRT backup with NBU 7.6.1.2.

The architecture is the following :

- Sharepoint 2010, 2 Front web servers, 2 application servers, 1 Clustered SQL Server

- all servers are virtual machines

- Service account used for legacy Network, legacy client and client services is domain admin + local admin and has the required 4 rights in local security policy

- DNS is OK (hosts has been also updated with short and long names - just in case)

- non-GRT backup is runing fine

- GRT backup is starting well, but after "some time" is slowing down ...

- I have enabled verbose loging on SQL server and the following messages appear in bpkar log file  :

I am worried (but maybe i am wrong) by vnet_cached_getaddrinfo_and_update: [vnet_addrinfo.c:1544] in failed cache ERR=10109 NAME=SVBLL-WI05Q

SVBLL-W05Q is the front web server used as client in the NBU policy.

Desktop Agent won't run for single user on multiuser system

I need a solution

I have a confusing problem on one of our Windows 8 computers. The DLO Desktop Agent runs fine for all users on this computer except for one. This one user gets "The database server name is not specified in the registry" error whenever he logs in. We have uninstalled and reinstalled the client multiple times and checked the registry to verify that it had the correct server listed in the DefaultMediaServer key (it does). We've eliminated the firewall as a potential cause and the user himself; he can log into other machines and DLO backs him up just fine. I'm wondering if anyone has an idea of what else we could try aside from re-creating his user profile. We are running DLO 7.0.

Backup Exec server certificate expired

We are currently running Backup Exec 15 and are seeing that the SERVER certificate (not the ROOT certificate) is being listed as expired.

Is there a way for us to manually renew the certificate?

Trust with Backup Exec Agents appear to be unaffected and backups are working correctly.

DCOM communication error with Linux servers

We are currently running Backup Exec 15 with both Windows and Linux agents.

We are seeing a large number of errors being logged to the Windows Event Log:

DCOM was unable to communicate with the computer LINUX_HOST_NAME using any of the configured protocols; requested by PID      f48 (C:\Program Files\Symantec\Backup Exec\BackupExecManagementService.exe).

Whilst backups are working correctly, Backup Exec is logging the error several times an hour for each server.

We can see that the backup server is attempting to communicate with the agent on port 135 (which is blocked) but connects successfully on port 10000.

Is there a way to stop Backup Exec attempting to communicate with non-Windows agents using the NETBIOS port?

I need a solution

I have a Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard Edition SP2 installed with SSR2013 and it was running fine. After upgrade to SSR2013 R2, the backup fails. I tried uninstall and reinstall but still the same error message. Appreciate any help.

Hello all,

I want  solution for  restore  taking time  from seconadry storage  to solaris machine (on solaris machine, we  installed the  latest netbackup 7.7).

we tried some  option  such as  reduced fragments size; setting on solaris  machine

Please provide  us help so that we  can restore  our data easily .

Backup job running forever

I need a solution

Our backup jobs start running but then after a while they stop.
The monitor says they are still running but the byte counter stops incrementing and the transfer rate slowly decreases.

All services are running on the servers that are to be backed up.

There are no error messages or alerts.

The current job backed up 2GB in 11 minutes but has now been running for over an hour and it is still showing 2GB.

Anyone got any ideas?

We are running 2010 R2.
This has been running OK for the last year or so but for the last week several jobs have stalled.

Client side de-dup issue

I need a solution

I backup many clients all have a similar config. They use Client side de dup and backup up to a centralised puredisk pool.

Two clients are giving me the same error and I am having a lot of trouble backing them up.

They are windows 2008 clients.

The error I always get is bpbkar waited for empty buffers xxx times, delayed xxxtimes. Then the job fails with a 14 file write failed error.

I backup 328 clients all others are fine.

Master Server and client version is 7.1.0.4.

Can anyone help?

Hello,

System overview:

BKP01 - Backup Server running WS2008 R2 Enterprise SP1 x64 with Backup Exec 2014 Version 14.1 Rev. 1786 (64-bit)

SQL01 - SQL Server running WS2008 R2 Standard SP1 x64 with MS SQL 2008 R2 (Fully patched)

Current SQL Server instance: SQL01\MSSQLSERVER

I would very much like to move the BEDB to BKP01. Currently SQLExpress is not installed on BKP01.

I also am planning an upgrade BKP01 to BE 15 if that will give me a path to move the DB.

Any advice welcome.

Hi

I am getting this error on Backup Exec 15 only on the System State Job:

V-79-57344-41488 - Due to one or more errors in \\SERVERNAME.misc.local\System?State, this backup cannot be used for conversion to virtual machines, Simplified Disaster Recovery (SDR), or a complete online restore.
V-79-57344-33928 - Access Denied. Cannot backup directory \ and its subdirectories.

Only System State is selected on the selection list

There is a Full and Incremental

AOFO is switched on

Does anyone have any ideas?

I will be taking backup a windows client with below  backup selection while keeping “maximum datastreams to 1” for that client. Will it ensures that the backup is being done in the order? Is there any possibility that order jumps incase of any issues in Netbackup resource broker etc.. ?? Plesae see the attachment for the sequence

1..we install OST plug in on media servers/master servers. we need to install OST plug in on DD server also?

2.DD boost plug in and OST plug in is same? where we install DD boost plug in?

3. we have installed OST plug in on our media servers to communicate with DD.Now DD BOOST plug in needs to be installed where?

Where can I download NB_7.1.0.4.winnt.x64.exe ?

Best way to view backups of a client

Guys, is there any way in the console to view all backups from all policies that have been assigned to a given client? I know I can use the 'Back,Archive and Restore' button but then I have to select the client, select the policy etc. is there a way to see all backups from all policies assigned to a given client?
