Ghost v12 VMDK "not bootable" in VMWare

I need a solution

I've been using Ghost v12 for years to safeguard my XP system.  Now attempting to migrate to Win7 with a VMWare Workstation 8 to facilitate use of older Win98SE and XP programs and processes.  Having created a .v2i set for my Win98SE machine and converted to a .vmdk with Ghost, VMWare is telling me that the .vmdk is "not bootable".  Every restore made with Ghost of my XP system always allowed me to "make drive bootable".  No such choice was offered during the conversion of the .v2i file to .vmdk.  Is there any way that the .vmdk file created by Ghost can be made *bootable* in VMWare?
