What to backup on backup exec 2012

Dear All,

To my undertanding that, backup server will store index or name of what it backups, schedules, servers in it's SQL database so that when you need to restore Backup exec will let you browse all backup Items before disk or tape connected to backup server. Therefore you need to backup it properly if not, you can not restore any data when you backup server goes down even you have rebuilt new symantec backup exec server and connect this new server to backup storage media ( disk or tape). If i am correct, what should i backup on my exec 2012 ?
