Hello,
My name is Nikolay and I am pretty new here. Apologies if I made any mistakes during my first post.
The reason why I am posting this is to seek for an advise for my issue. I am doing restores of files pretty often. The restores are done on one of the sites where we have got 4 drives. I am using NetBackup 6.5. The issue is that most of the times we split the restore into multiple jobs as the restore is huge and it should be using more than 1 tape. So let's use the following example:
- We have a restore of a folders which is split between 3 Netbackup jobs
- Each job is requiring 2 tapes to restore all the files that is meant to restore
- We have 3 netbackup jobs which is total of 6 tapes required
- The total amount of drives that can be used is 4
If I start two of the jobs, that would mean 4 of the tapes should be mounted and used on all the drives, right? Yes, but no. Actually each job is using only one of the drives at the time. So the number of drives used is 2 only. This is pretty inefficient and I am looking for a way to make each job use all the tapes that it requires at the same time.
The thing is, I am able to make all of the drives be used by the backup jobs at the same time, but during restore, I am struggling to find out how can that be done. Any recommendation would be appreciated.
Please let me know if some of the info provided is confusing or if you need some more information.
Thanks,
Nikolay
