when I install Symantect Backup Exec 2012 Agent in a windows server 2008 R2 (64bit) , it gives below error
"Error 1935. An error occured during the installation of assembly 'policy.8.0 microsoft.VC80.CRT.version="8.0.50727.762",type="win32-policy", ProcessorArchitecture="amd 64", publickeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b:,type="win32"
please help me to overcome this

I'm trying to install Backupexec 2014 on a Windows Server 2012 std x64, but when it comes to SQL Express installation it just says "failed"
Never seen this before, and I've installed quite a few like this already. Tried alot of things and I'm out of ideas. Some help would be great!
* There's no windows updates availble,
* .Net 3.5 (which includes 3.0, 2.0) is installed
* .Net 4.0 is installed

I am new to Symantec Netbackup software. Recently we have purchased Symantec Netbackup 7.6 Software , the server software is installed on Dell PowerEdge R720( OS: Redhat Linux 6.5 x86_64) . We have connected Dell powervault 114x( 2 drives) to Dell R720 Server using 6Gbps SAS Cable.
I would like to configure the Dell Powervault 114x in Symantec Netbackup 7.6

I am using NBU 7.6.0.3 and have policies that use the vmware policy type, and the advanced attribute Post vCenter events is set to All Events. I backup each vm through a VMware backup host running Windows 2008 R2. The backups run successful, but none of the VMs are getting the NB_LAST_BACKUP attribute assigned to them. Any ideas?

i don't find a cmdlet for delete older existing backup sets from an Media Server.
From the UI, Backup and Restore, select a Server and Backup Sets. I select the needed Backup Sets and with right Mouse clic Delete. Easy
This is possible only for one or more Backup Sets but not for any Servers and any many old Month backup Set.
From bemcli, i want use :
Get-BEJob "$ServerName $BackupType" | Get-BEJobHistory | Where-Object {($_.StartTime -lt $a)} | ????????
I found : Remove-BEJobHistory but will only delete the history. What happens with the Backup Sets ?
Otherwise, is it possible to change, with bemcli, the Expiration Date ? So BackupExec will remove automatically this older BackupSet

I have a new setup with a CASO and MMS - The catalogs are configured as distributed.
When CASO is offline shouldn’t the locally created jobs not continue? (Now it's just stuck at Loading Media - Target is B2D locally)

With NetBackup SLP, NetBackup will retain the backup data on the intermediary disk staging device until the SLP duplication to tape stage is complete.
Does BE do this? I mean, in BE, if a duplication stage is missed or fails, then does BE retain the backup data until it is duplicated to tape, or does BE just follow its usual DLM retention rules.
I guess I could re-phrase this as... In BE are the 'duplication to tape' stages loosely coupled to the backup job, or are they tightly coupled (as in NetBackup)?

We have 4 hosts clustered windows server 2012 R2. Hyper-V cluster with one CSV.
On top of that (CSV)we have:
MailBox1: OS as VHD 2 LUNs Directly Attached to SAN 1 for (DB1+logs) , 1 for (DB2+logs)
MailBox2: OS as VHD 2 LUNs Directly Attached to SAN 1 for (DB1+logs) , 1 for (DB2+logs)
CAS1: NLB
CAS2: NLB
Backup Exec 2014 appliance for backing up all servers,
We have 2 backup tasks one for Hyper-V hosts (backup Vm’s), and second for backup up exchange DAG.
We are facing issue in DAG job that in the middle of task one of the mailbox servers freeze and stop responding the following:
Backup exec agent lose the connection.
But server is available on the hyper-V console with limited connection status on network icon.
However in that time server stop responding for any network traffic (RDP, Ping, ETC) for 2-3 hours then it back to live again or once we do manual live migration for one of the hosted VM’s on the same host as the failed mailbox server it comes a live instantly.
In that time server goes down (Mailbox2) some errors in event viewer.

Alos i'm opening ticket with Microsoft regarding that issue. but urgent for me so i came here :)

Recently I did an upgrade for a customer, backup exec 2012 SP3 to SP4. The upgrade went well, no problems at all. So after the upgrade I told the customer to plan the agent upgrades. I demonstrated how to do this in the bexec gui by right clicking the server and then click update. I tryed this on one of their servers and the agent went to version 14.0.1798.1373.
After couple days I hear back from customer that some agents cannot be pushed so I explain to him the local installation method by copying the RAWS64 folder and running setupaa64.cmd.
Again the customer mails me that agent installations now work but the version number goes to 14.0.1798.1364...which is lower then the one I did from the gui.
I tryed doing the install local again by myself and I got the same version, I see no errors popping up during the installation...I see the command prompt window which closes after about 4 seconds and then a _setup.exe process runs on the server for a while. When that was done I rebooted the server...still the 1364 version. I also tryed killing any msiexec.exe processes before running setup64.cmd but still no luck. I did NOT try to remove the agent and reinstall from scratch...these servers are not easy to reboot for the customer and time windows are short for reboots. It's all physical servers and mix of regular, oracle and sql...
Also backup exec gives no mention of the agent needing an upgrade in the job logs, the backups run fine with "green" status, so no warnings.
So my question is, is it normal that the version is not the same ?

I'm wanting to duplicate a number of images from one storage unit to another, to free up the disk shelf for redeployment. Using the catalog section, when I select duplicate from the top box, I can't select AdvancedDisk (only Basic Disk) so I can't search for the images to Duplicate.
Is there another way to do this when using an AdvancedDisk?

I cannot get my HP 1/8 Autoloader to inventory in backup exec 2014. I cannot seem to adjust the barcode rules. Any help would be appreciated. i just installed the backup exec 2014 and the HP 1/8 autoloaded with LTO6 tape in it. i do not have barcode labels and just want ot configure the system to backup my servers. Everything I try gives me this error

I have a lot of VMware bakups failing with error 84. I reran part of a failed job and got failure of 156 (snapshot). The VMs are SLES 11 SP3 servers.
My envirement.
Masterserver -- Solaris 10 with Netbackup 7.5.07 installed
Mediaserver -- Solaris 10 with Netbackup 7.5.07 installed (tape libarary controler)
Mediaserver00 -- Win 2008 R2 with Netbackup 7.5.07 installed (User for VM backups)
Mediaserver01 -- Win 2008 R2 with Netbackup 7.5.07 installed (User for VM backups)
Disk Pools
Dedupe_Mediaserver_DP size: 9.23TB 56% full
Dedupe_Mediaserver00_DP size: 7.68TB 23.74% full
Dedupe_Mediaserver01_DP size: 9.59TB 23.96% full
The network that has this issue is not conected to the internet so I will have to hand type any logs you ask for. The only log I have looked at so far is /usr/openv/netbackup/logs/bpfis.
Any help would be great.
I have a job in which I have 5 VMs selected for backup. If the 1st VM backup fails for some reason, does it continue with backing up the remaining VMs or does the whole job fail.?
Also is there a way I can multistream the VM backups instead of it running sequentially.

I have couple of virtual machines which run SQL 2008. Are there any cons to backing up SQL using the AVVI, is there any drawbacks in terms of restore or should I stick to backing up SQL server using the traditional approach ?
I came across a few forum discussions that along with the VM backup I need to create another job for transaction logs.
Can anyone suggest whats the best approach to backup the SQL server

I'm running Backup Exec 2014, and backing up an Exchange 2007 server. For a good amount of time, everything was going well. Recently, however, after a change to one of the storage groups (Disabling circular logging), the job hangs immediately after GRT processing begins. The latest job has gone for 36 hours without processing any Storage Groups for GRT data. The backup, itself, is only taking about four hours.
Any thoughts on what will cause this, or what debugging I could turn up to get more information?

We are experiencing issue with one of our solaris servers. Its has file system error so some files are getting skipped and backups are partial.
So i enabled bpbkar logs with verbose = 5 on client to know how many files are getting skipped due to I/O can not lsat error.
Now zipped file of bpbkar log is 28 Mb for a day and i dont know how to read it . Pls help so that i can exclude the same culprit directories.

I have 2 appliances. My data growth is growing at a huge rate and I'm struggling to keep a hold on the amount of server backups taking place. I'm constantly battlig with the space on my 2 applicances and have regular deletions of data setups due to no space. My companie's growth is great but there's an underwritten expectation that I have to manage the data no matter the demands. As such, when I speced out BackupExec 3600 appliances for my backups, I was only running 8-10 servers and running weekly full and daily incrmentals. That was over 2.5 years ago, and I now have 45-50 servers that require to be backed up. I currently running BE2012 but im in the process of upgrading to BE2014. Here are my 3 questions
* Is there a BE calculator I can use on a new or existing servers to determine the amount of data that will be backups and deduped?
* Is there a data retention calculator where it can say how much storage I would probably need to keep X days/months/years of X amount of data?
* Is there an option to allow me to send backups to the cloud (deduped if possible) so I can keep old backups/server images of my local storage but still allow for recovery for legal and compliance laws?
